Live Screenplay Competition
Hear scripts read aloud - and decide who wins $2,000!
The DC Shorts Screenplay Competition is a very different kind of screenwriting competition. A panel of judges consisting of filmmakers, screenwriters and critics has reviewed over 145 screenplays - and selected the top 5 to be performed in front of a live audience! After the table reading, the audience votes on their favorite, and one lucky writer will walk away with $2,000 to shoot their project! If the script is shot and completed by the deadline, it will be automatically included as an official selection for the 2013 DC Shorts Film Festival.
Meet all of the writers (who have traveled from as far away as Australia) after the reading at the complimentary wine and cheese reception hosted by the Irish Dairy Board and Barefoot Wines.
THE SCREENPLAYS:
MAGGIE AND THE BANDITS
A mischievous young girl encounters troublemakers bigger than herself in this charming fantasy.
HAUNTED HOUSE HUNTERS
Ghosts go looking for new homes to haunt in this wild parody of reality TV.
THE TRIUMPHANT DEATH OF FRANK BEAN
A poor black man in the South finds greatness in death.
MIND GAMES
Free will has consequences, as an experiment in perception goes awry.
SHENANIGANS
Two families collide in this funny teen sex farce.
